FINANCIAL CRISIS ON HORIZON?
The stock market has jumped nicely. Perhaps on the anticipation of a more friendly business environment, less regulation, a better attitude about business from a new President (the old one obviously hated businesses and the rich).
Housing prices have done nicely, too, but now we're beginning to see some severe softening in the market. Lot's of markdowns on the higher end, and especially properties that might be considered second home type of properties.
Gold is moving up, to around $1300/ounce today as I write this.
North Korea and Trump are rattling sabers at one another and this puts in an awkward position relative to China and Russia.
Feels like something is in the wind. Hopefully it will be just a pause, a pullback, which - when they happen - are actually healthy. Hopefully it isn't something more severe.
Although things appear on the surface to be "OK" in America's economy, you don't have to scratch the surface much to see real pain, real desperation in America. A lot of the jobs people are getting are low paying bullshit fast food jobs. People are working part time at more than one job. Uber is popular because everyone needs to make a few more bucks because they job they have during the day - if they have one - doesn't pay crap.
And forget about getting a job if you're white and 50 years old. Or if you're black and live in the inner city. You might as well go get a government loan, go to school, and get a job as a "diversity manager" at some large company, otherwise you don't have much of a chance in America today. If you're an entrepreneur, you can forget it. The regulations and start up costs of most businesses will kill you, financially and literally. Everyone looks at Elan Musk and thinks he's such a visionary. Don't forget that he has been funded by the US Government to the tune of billions in FREE GOVERNMENT MONEY - YOUR TAX DOLLARS. Give me a few billion, I can be visionary, too. I'll beT you can be as well.
Regardless, my 30+ years of watching the markets and the economy has taught me that things can go up for a lot longer than I can stay short, and that just when you think you have the market figured out - like a beautiful, mysterious woman - she will surprise you and you will never see it coming. Some people call it getting run over by a freight train. I'm just trying to hear the whistle blow this time before it's too late.
STAY VIGILANT AMERICA!!!
