Paul Ryan Just Destroyed the Republican Party
Given the disfunction of the Republican Party, its inability to find leadership in Congress that can get anything done - even when they have the majority as they have under Obama - is giving rise to a political landscape in which a new party can emerge. Paul Ryan just sealed the fall of the Republic Party right before my conservative eyes by disavowing Trump's candidacy with less than 30 days to go in the race. He made a call: Hillary is going to win. Therefore, he has to try to keep the majority in the House and Senate. This short term goal is arguably OK to pursue, but what it will do is completely fracture the Republican Party for the long term. He has essentially thrown away millions of potential Republicans that will now move to a third party that we predict will be formed out of the wreckage of a failed Trump bid for the Presidency. Typical Republican stupid move...instead of being inclusive, they push the new people away just because they may not have all the same values and thinking that they have. Well that's called progress. It's important to be inclusive, in fact its essential as a political party, in order to grow and occasionally WIN. It takes voters, a lot of voters, to WIN.
Hillary temporarily screwed the Democratic party with her treatment of Bernie Sanders and the DNC collusion scandal BUT, the Democrats are much smarter than the Republicans...they've worked fast and hard to bring Bernie's followers into the fold, and its working. They immediately adopted some of his platform, probably with no intention of getting any of it across the line, but it's working. This is why the Democrats win and the Republicans lose.
So what would the new party look like, the one made from the disenfranchised Trump populist supporters?
The disenfranchised and totally frustrated conservatives that Donald Trump has connected with are one massive voting group. His base, which is huge and in the 10's of millions of voters, is a powerful movement, a populist movement. Ryan could have chosen to be inclusive and opened his arms to these new party members, but he chose instead to alienate them.
Instead of welcoming these millions of new Republican voters into the family, this very large populist group could (and very well may) splinter off into a third party that I call "The Trumplicans". The existence of this party will destroy the Republican Party's chance of gaining the White House or a majority in Congress for decades, but that is not the fault of the Trumplicans, it is the fault of Paul Ryan, the leader of the House Majority, for failing to be inclusive and instead try to submarine Trumps effort to win the White House. Wasn't it Paul Ryan that has been using the excuse "we don't have the White House" when we ask him why he can't get crap done in Congress? Well, here's your chance Paul! What an idiot.
10 years from now you will be able to point directly to this moment in history where, for the first time EVER, the leader of the Republicans in the House refused to support his Republican Presidential Candidate, and the result was a fracturing of the Republican Party and its decline as a governing power in the US for decades.
Good job Paul Ryan. You've destroyed the Republican Party, and that just happened right before our eyes and on your watch. You could have decided to bring those people into the Republican Party by getting behind the man that won the right to run for President, but instead, you went the other way. It is short-sighted. It's the move of a weak man. You're a short-sighted man driven by fear. During your tenure as leader of the House you did nothing to stand up to Obama, you did nothing to stop any of his and Hillary's illegal actions and executive orders. No one was made accountable for anything. You rubber stamped Obama's budget and just about everything that he jammed down your throat. You let him get away with murder in the Iran deal. When a President oversteps his boundaries of power in ways never seen in history, as Obama has, its YOUR JOB to stand up and do something about it, yet you did nothing. What in the name of HELL are you doing up there, in the position you were granted? You sure as heck aren't looking out for our conservative values and our constitutional rights or even doing the patriotic right thing and protect the Constitution itself! You've let Obama stomp all over our nations founding values and the Constitution. You should be ashamed of yourself. We thought John Boehner was bad...but you're just a flat out embarrassment.
Step down. Leave. Please. You make me sick.
